Why Is A Screen Protector Important?

In most cases, your own smartphone can be found in your trouser pocket. Small change and the bunch of keys are added to this, which in turn can leave more or less deep craters on the display.

Even with great care, it is often impossible to prevent small scratches from creeping in and causing a bad mood. In order to get this problem under control and to protect the screen of the mobile end device, the attachment of a screen protector is a very useful measure.

Things To Know About Screen Protection

Basically, the screen protector or screen protector has been designed to avoid scratches on a smartphone display. This is a film with a thickness between 0.1 and 0.4 centimeters, which is precisely tailored to the respective size of the display. Despite the protective foil, the touch function is still available, so that hardly any impairments in terms of response time are to be expected.

From time to time, however, it can happen that the image quality suffers somewhat because the film material is not 100 percent transparent. If the foil is not completely smooth, this circumstance can have a slight impact on the touch function. Nevertheless, screen protectors are considered an effective measure to comprehensively protect the mobile phone from scratches.

Why Screen Protection Is Still Important

Over the years, pressure-sensitive touchscreens have given way to so-called capacitive displays. Based on this technological advancement in the 2010s, it was no longer necessary to exert physical pressure on the display. A light touch on a certain area is now sufficient, which makes it possible to use glass instead of a plastic display. In contrast to plastic, however, glass can break much more easily, although it is far more resistant to scratches. Against this background, the glass used for smartphone displays has been continuously developed in order to adequately meet the increasing demands.

comparatively compact, today's modern models are significantly larger and just as thinner. Against this background, the requirements for the installed glass have changed. So it must be hard enough to avoid scratches. At the same time, it has to be soft enough to prevent cracking if it falls down. This compromise has now been established for every smartphone or is generally accepted.

Find The Right Screen Protector

First and foremost, a display protection or a flawless display serves to preserve the value in the event of a later sale of the mobile device. All products available on the market have their own advantages and disadvantages, which must be known in the context of personal considerations.

Protective Films Made Of Tempered Glass

Bulletproof glass is both robust and extremely reliable protection for the display of mobile devices. The glass cover proves to be extremely resistant in the event of a fall and potential scratches. However, compared to protective films, the glass is more difficult to install and more expensive. Basically, it can be said that protective films made of bulletproof glass differ significantly from other types of protection for modern displays. The production is subject to secrecy on the part of the manufacturer.

Liquid Glass protectives Films

A special form of screen protection are protective films made of so-called liquid glass. It contains a chemical solution that protects the smartphone screen from falls and scratches. Compared to bulletproof glass, liquid glass offers even greater protection, which is ultimately reflected in the purchase price.

The Classic Protective Film Made Of Plastic

The classic protective film is usually made of plastic and can be easily installed on a display, even by laypeople. The films provide good to very good protection against unwanted scratches. However, these protective films do not offer any protection in the event of a fall. The models are now available in different versions and strengths in order to be able to meet the different demands of potential buyers.

the film correctly to the display of the mobile device. An important requirement is to first remove any contamination from the display. This significantly increases the adhesive strength of the film. In the next step, the protective film is removed and stuck on. The first try should already be the last, in order to give the adhesive enough adhesion and to leave no room for renewed dust residues. Numerous manufacturers of protective film supply a cleaning cloth. If air bubbles form in one or the other place after attachment, they can be pushed away to the side with an EC card.

Special Case Liquid Glass

Compared to bulletproof glass and foils made of conventional plastic, liquid glass is considered to be rather impractical and just as time-consuming to attach to the display. The material is rubbed onto the display with a small cloth and then polished with a microfiber cloth. The applied sealant then has to dry or harden for around twelve hours. During this time, the smartphone should not be used under any circumstances. Although higher costs cannot be avoided with this variant, it is suitable for any mobile device. Even if it is a curved display, the use of liquid glass makes sense.

Protective films for smartphone and/or tablet displays always offer added value. If you don’t necessarily want to spend a lot of money on this, you can buy several cheaper models and stock them up. Nevertheless, bulletproof glass films are considered tried and tested and in most cases also offer the best protection against scratches or damage after a fall. In order to protect the mobile end device from damage as much as possible, it is advisable to purchase an additional cover for the respective device in addition to attaching a film. The combination of these two components should contribute to being able to use the smartphone over a longer period of time without damage.
